Minnesota is ranked 21st among the 50 states of U.S. Minnesota is located in Midwestern region of United States. Minnesota was admitted to the U.S union in 1858 as 32nd state. The constitution of Minnesota provides three branches of government: executive, legislative and judicial. The executive branch of Minnesota is headed by the governor who serves as both head of state and head of government. The governor has a cabinet consisting of leaders of various state governments. Other elected executive officers include: Secretary of State, Attorney General, Auditor of state. The legislative branch of Minnesota is bicameral consisting of the Senators and the House of Representatives. The judicial branch of Minnesota consists of Minnesota Supreme Court which hears cases from all lower courts and Minnesota Court of Appeals and discretionary appeals.
