Minnesota : Tourist Hot Spots

Minnesota is most famous for its twin cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, those are the cultural regions of the state and famous for their various outdoor activities.

Minneapolis:
Minneapolis is famous for its sixteen lakes, parklands and the beauty that nature provides. St Paul and Minneapolis is rated as one of the best cities to settle. It is located at the junction where the Minnesota River joins the Mississippi River.
  • Minneapolis Sculpture Garden: Houses numerous contemporary works and sculptures in its 7 –acre garden. It is connected to attractive Loring Park by a sculptural bridge.
  • Minneapolis Institute of Arts: Houses various forms of ancient historical arts from different countries and especially displays the European art works. Asian Galleries and more than 100,000 objects from diverse culture of the world are among the highlights.
  • Minnehaha Park: It is situated 6 miles south of the city along the banks of the Mississippi river with statues of Hiawatha and Minnehaha, the chief characters in Longfellow's poem.
  • Walker Art Center: The center is recently expanded and houses strong permanent collection of 20th century art and photography.
St. Paul:
Saint Paul is the capital of state Minnesota and occupies the center of the fifteen-county Twin Cities metropolitan statistical area. Saint Paul has a national reputation for its effective local government, attractive architecture, rich cultural environment, and quality of life.
  • Cathedral of St Paul: The historical Cathedral of St Paul was built in 1906 in Classical Renaissance style. It is presided over the city from its hilltop perch and marks the attractive Summit Selby nearby.
  • Summit Avenue: It is followed by Cathedral of St Paul which has large collection of Victorian houses including the James J Hill House, former railroad founder.
